Role of State Secretariat of Environment - SEA

SEA is the central department in the administrative structure of the Government of Rio de Janeiro State, for the planning, promotion, co-ordination and overseeing the implementation of environmental programs and services.

SEA's portfolio includes:

• INEA;
• Environmental Conservation State Council (Conselho Estadual de Meio Ambiente – CONEMA)
• Environmental Control State Commission (Comissão Estadual de Controle Ambiental – CECA)
• Water Resources State Council (Conselho Estadual de Recursos Hídricos)
• Watershed Councils (Comitês de Bacias)
• Guanabara Bay Management Council (Conselho Gestor da Baía de Guanabara)
• Water Resources State Fund (Fundo Estadual de Recursos Hídricos – FUNDRHI)
• Environmental Conservation and Urban Development State Fund (Fundo Estadual de Conservação Ambiental e Desenvolvimento Urbano - FECAM)
• Atlantic Rain Forest Fund (Fundo da Mata Atlântica)
