Inea - Instituto Estadual do Ambiente

About Inea

The State Institute of Environment - Inea (Instituto Estadual do Ambiente) is linked to the State Secretariat of Environment (Secretaria do Estado do Ambiente) – SEA of the Rio de Janeiro State Government. The Institute is responsible for implementing state policies for the environment, water, land and forest resources, promoting welfare and well-being to present and future generations.

Inea was established by merging three former state agencies: Serla (a water resources management agency), Feema (an agency for environmental control, permits, and environmental impact assessment), and IEF (an agency for biodiversity conservation, forest, wildlife, and state parks).
