Who We Are
The Instituto Estadual do Ambiente (State Institute of Environment) – INEA is an environmental public organization within the Secretaria do Estado do Ambiente (State Secretariat of Environment) - SEA, a Government of Rio de Janeiro State department. The INEA implements state policies, programs, services and regulations to protect and conserve Rio de Janeiro State environment, on behalf of and for the benefit of present and future generations.
The INEA was established under the INEA Act (Law 5,101/2007), by merging three former state agencies: SERLA (water resources management), FEEMA (environmental control, permits, and environmental impact assessment), and IEF (biodiversity conservation, forest, wildlife, and state parks). INEA is made up of engineers, biologist, scientists, technicians, policy analysts and other dedicated professionals. |
