Rio de Janeiro and the Atlantic Rainforest
In the state of Rio de Janeiro, the Atlantic Forest covers 1.3 million hectares, equivalent to 30% of the state's territory. More than half of this area is legally protected.
Nevertheless, much more can be done to curb deforestation and promote the conservation of this biome, such as promoting research, ecological restoration, and sustainable agriculture. We need to act and overcome challenges to halt biodiversity loss by 2030 and promote net gains by 2050 to live in harmony with nature.
In order to do this, the Rio de Janeiro State Environment Institute (Inea, in its acronym in Portuguese) counts on the support of investors and partners who, like us, see nature as a driving force for development.
